The Forest Engineering Research Institute of Canada (FERIC)
has designed a spreadsheet calculation tool to help estimate
the impact that tire pressure control systems (TPCS) have on
vehicle fuel efficiency. The tool, available only to FERIC members,
allows users to input data such as average annual mileage, average
fuel consumption, fuel price, number of trucks and road structure,
into the spreadsheet. Based on this input as well as field test
results, the spreadsheet can then give the user a rough estimate of
potential fuel savings when vehicles are equipped with TPCS.
For more information on this tool or information on FERIC’s
fuel-efficiency research, please contact Marius Surcel.
